It is a land locked country with borders to the Slovak Republic, Ukraine, Romania, Croatia, Serbia, Austria and Slovenia. It is a country of contrasting topography with both plains and mountains and hundreds of square miles of National Parks, vineyards and orchards. It is also home to Europe’s largest inland stretch of water, Lake Balatan. Not only this but it has a huge amount of hot springs, which are reputed to have medicinal qualities.

The famous Danube River runs through it and the capital city, Budapest, the Queen of the Danube, sits regally on the banks of the river. It is a fantastic city made up of old and modern with some beautifully preserved architecture and cobble stone streets. It has been a haven for the artistically minded and creative individuals throughout the ages and this is reflected in the distinctive atmosphere the city has. Budapest offers all the amenities of any modern city and has a great nightlife full of bars, restaurant and nightclubs.

This is a really great country to explore with plenty to do and see in all its regions and is a wonderful mixture of east and west, old and new. Hungary is a really great place to explore from the comfort of you vacation rental home.
